Earth Day

When you’re actively working on preservation, building a sustainable home, planting vegetation, expanding your air purifying plant collection, and minimizing waste most days feel like Earth Day. Its still encouraging to see everyone else giving the planet a little more focus on April 22nd.

One way I choose to celebrate is by supporting the brands that put our planet first, but don’t compromise quality. I’m excited to partner with the Sustainable lifestyle Brand Threads for Thought this Earth day. Threads for thought creates fashionable activewear using the most earth friendly fabrics, in ethical factories, and give back to organizations that help protect our home. In honor of Earth day they’re offering 30% off site-wide using the code 4EARTH, and 20% of all proceeds from sales will be donated to The Ocean Cleanup, an effort aiming to diminish the trillion pieces of plastic currently polluting the ocean.

Threads for thought creates their pieces using 3 main fabrics -

  1. Organic Cotton which eliminates the toxic chemicals used to grow the non-organic variety.

  2. Recycled polyester made from plastic waste which would otherwise end up polluting our ocean

  3. Lenzing modal made from Beech wood tree bark. Modal does not require the cutting of trees, re-grows naturally, and is carbon neutral.

I don’t often find myself in activewear outside of a workout class, but I find myself reaching for this legging/sports bra combo (pictured) often. The Malana Sports Bra and Claire High-waist 7/8 leggins were sewn from a recycled polyester and spandex combo. The recycled polyester comes from plastic bottles that were diverted from a long life in a landfill. They leggings have a lot of stretch making them perfect for my pilates class, and the material is sweat wicking so I don’t feel terrible walking around in the set post work out.

This earth day also happens to land at the beginning of Fashion Revolution week, and one of my favorite things about Threads 4 thought is their transparency. They provide an inside look at the factories that produce their clothing around the world and highlight the ways in which these factories strive for sustainability, including any certification they’ve received. For example their factory Artex located in Weihai, China and they are WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) compliant, and recycle about 80% of the water used during production.

If you’re looking to support a brand that is committed to sustainability this Earth Day, Threads 4 Thought is a great choice. be sure to use code 4EARTH for 30% off your order. Happy Earth Day & week!
